this guided tour through the heart of berlin takes you from the brandenburg gate to alexanderplatz. you will encounter berlin's most world-famous sights: the reichstag building, the brandenburg gate, the holocaust memorial and all the most important periods of 19th and 20th century german history, from the bismarck era to the "berlin republic."   

if you are a first-time visitor to berlin and are simply interested in knowing what there is to see in this city and where, with a bit more time, one might investigate a little further, then just take one of the basic tours for berlin: a walk through the history of the bismarckian empire, the weimar republic, national socialism, the communist dictatorship, and (of course) the new berlin.

meeting place and length of tour: the meeting place for this tour is pariser platz just east of the brandenburg gate. there you will find the exit for the rapid transit (s-bahn) station "unter den linden." the tour lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours.
